The Reforms that Can Save the U.S.A.

Education, legal, political, media, and other reforms

We desperately need to implement significant reforms that can help save America.  Chief Justice Earl Warren stated in his Address at the Second Century Convocation of Washington University (1955) that “every generation, to keep its freedom, must earn it through understanding the past, vigilance in the present and determination for the future.”

Indeed, our generation is facing its crisis and must earn its right to preserve our freedom. We can meet this challenge by vigorously implementing the following reforms that can save the U.S.A.:

Education Reform.  The key to maintaining our liberty is an educated citizenry. Unfortunately, our education system is failing to properly prepare our citizens.  K-12 schools should adopt an American Freedom Curriculum.  Colleges and universities – especially teacher preparation programs – should require courses in American history and civics, including the First Principles.

Legal Reform.  As Chief Justice Warren stated, “A dedicated bench and a militant bar are the natural leaders” to preserving our liberties.  Yet, law schools are not adequately educating our legal profession to defend the Constitution.  Law schools and bar exams should focus on our First Principles and founding history.

Political Reform.  We must replace our often poisonous and superficial political dialogue with one deeply rooted in our First Principles and history.

Media Reform.  Sound-bites and cursory coverage should be replaced by thorough analysis in light of our First Principles and history.

Nonprofit Reform.  We must support and initiate many more nonprofit efforts dedicated to protecting our First Principles and understanding our history.

Holiday Reform.  Remembering and celebrating the true meaning of our civic holidays is critical to instilling a deep appreciation for and understanding of the blessings of freedom.

“America’s Survival Guide by Michael Warren describes with detail and passion the dangers that come from abandoning the ‘First Principles’ upon which this nation was founded. But this important book offers more than a diagnosis and despair, it presents a reasoned program for restoring the U.S. Constitution its proper place at the center of American society and government. America’s Survival Guide draws on history, politics and education to make a powerful case for freedom and fighting for it.” John Engler, former Governor of Michigan and current President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers

“A comprehensive tour de force of what is going wrong with our republic and how to make it right. It does not matter if you come from the ideological left, right or straight-down the middle – this book is worth reading if you love America and cherish our freedom.” – Tom Watkins, Former Superintendent of Public Instruction and Director of the Department of Mental Health for the State of Michigan
