Media

The media is generally ignorant or hostile to America’s First Principles and history

Much of the mainstream media is generally ignorant or hostile to America’s First Principles and history.  In fact, the media is generally blissfully unaware of anything approaching history or foundational principles.

Rapt by the soap opera lives of celebrities, the bizarre antics of the maladjusted, the crime of the day, the scandal of the week, the protest or gaffe of the month, and the blistering invective of politicians, the media have all but ignored serious probing of our political state of affairs. In fact, most of the media is so preoccupied with short-term attention-grabbing headlines that it completely glosses over the long-term systematic challenges facing the country. The mainstream media almost never address the historical underpinnings or processes of government, or how they are relevant to the issues of the day.

Even when presented with historic opportunities to explore America’s rich history, the media choose to highlight the inane, banal, emotional, and trivial. Mainstream news coverage of watershed events such as impeachment, elections, the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, massive new social programs, Supreme Court nominations, record-breaking trade deficits, the War on Terror, and nuclear proliferation has been and continues to be dominated by personalities, fashion, glib remarks, gossip, and a hodgepodge of ill-informed commentary.

All of these events and issues presented (and some continue to present) an excellent backdrop by which to explore the meaning of America’s First Principles and history. Most of the mainstream media has squandered the opportunity to inform and challenge the public. Coverage of our First Principles is simply verboten.

The failure of the media to address our First Principles and history cloaks our society in a veil of ignorance and jeopardizes our ability to survive as a free society.

Simply put, our K-12 educational system is facing a crisis in educating our future citizens in American history and civics.

“America’s Survival Guide by Michael Warren describes with detail and passion the dangers that come from abandoning the ‘First Principles’ upon which this nation was founded. But this important book offers more than a diagnosis and despair, it presents a reasoned program for restoring the U.S. Constitution its proper place at the center of American society and government. America’s Survival Guide draws on history, politics and education to make a powerful case for freedom and fighting for it.” John Engler, former Governor of Michigan and current President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers

“Michael Warren is the Paul Revere of the 21st century, warning of an invasion of the American spirit that threatens to eviscerate the country’s founding principles and rot the nation from within. He documents the historical illiteracy that is truly dumbing down the future of America, its children. It’s time for America to answer this intellectual and spiritual call-to-arms.” – Richard Burr, The Detroit News, Associate Editor, Editorial Page
